Lincoln, Neb.—March 23, 2010—The AIM Institute of Omaha, a nonprofit membership organization providing information technology leadership to Nebraska and the region, announced it has expanded its outreach abilities by opening an office in Lincoln at the University of Nebraska Technology Park.

The organization has had a strong presence in Omaha since its founding in 1992. Its new location is in the Technology Development Center, 4701 Innovation Dr.

Rod Armstrong, vice president of strategic partnerships, said the Technology Park was AIM Institute’s first choice for a new location in Lincoln.

“The potential for dynamic synergy with businesses and individuals within the Tech Park is appealing,” Armstrong said. “Such relationships are already being formed with companies, such as Invest Nebraska.”

Armstrong said the organization’s initial focus in the capital city is to build awareness of its services, referring to his job as “social entrepreneurship.” He hopes to see awareness increase and the expansion of AIM Institute’s programming and services in Lincoln.

“The AIM Institute has a rich history of providing leadership in Nebraska, developing meaningful programs designed to address the challenges and opportunities created by a constantly evolving information technology industry,” said Technology Park President Steve Frayser. “The opening of an office in the Technology Park provides mutual benefit to AIM Institute and the community. It will
provide greater access to Lincoln’s vibrant IT and software scene while giving businesses and entrepreneurs increased exposure to its training, workforce development and company assistance programs.”

The AIM Institute is a membership organization that empowers communities, organizations and individuals through information technology. It is a nonprofit consortium of local, state and regional businesses, colleges/universities, secondary schools, chambers of commerce and the State of Nebraska. Its signature services are Careerlink.com, the region’s leading career development Web site that serves over 3,000 businesses and over 1 million job seekers each year, and Infotec, the Midwest’s premier business and IT conference. Its youth development, mentoring and instruction programs reach more than 5,000 students each year.

The University of Nebraska Technology Park is a cooperative partnership of the University of Nebraska Foundation, University of Nebraska and private sector investors. Founded in 1996, the Technology Park is home to 19 companies and organizations with a combined total of more than 2,100 employees.
